About first successes and future plans of the Ukrainian 3PL operator ZAMMLER in Kazakhstan
“It so happened in the ZAMMLER GROUP that we enter a new market if we have an anchor client (this was the case with Poland and China), to whom our experience will be really useful and interesting. So interesting that he will entrust us with sufficient volumes of work and will be able to cover operating expenses. Large European logistics companies usually have transnational corporations among their clients and enter new countries with them, and we have chosen a different path for ourselves – through the first rather serious customer. “- says Viktor Shevchenko.
Work began on the Kazakh market from cooperation with the largest e-commerce platform in Kazakhstan – Kaspi.kz. For several years in a row Kaspi.kz has an unconditional leadership in the market and a huge, by their standards, 60% share. Therefore, the need for the services of a highly professional logistics partner with a European approach, understanding of the processes and the ability to effectively build them is very relevant for them.
Everything happened very quickly, at the end of December a meeting took place, negotiations began, and already at the beginning of March a ZAMMLER representative office in Almaty started working. In a little more than two months, a full-fledged office with warehouses, people was opened and the processing of the client’s commodity flows began. And precisely because of this rapid pace, quarantine did not interfere.
For such a quick start and a guaranteed result, ZAMMLER has assembled a team of the best Ukrainian specialists for the tasks set by the customer. The experience and skills of Ukrainian logisticians are highly valued today in different countries. The team flew to Kazakhstan around the end of February, and then they almost completed the entire opening process by themselves.
The delivery process is organized using a digital platform with complex algorithms. Each logistics partner of Kaspi.kz fulfills its role by connecting the delivery links. The delivery chain is managed by a small but very experienced team of logisticians, by the way, also from Ukraine. All logistics partners of Kaspi.kz work according to their own SOP, performing operations exactly as the customer sees it. In conjunction with the total integration of IT systems, this makes it possible to maintain the quality of service at the proper level and scale at the pace dictated by the growing market.
Thanks to the speed of decision-making, reliable support of partners and the professionalism of the team, ZAMMLER’s positions in the Kazakh market quickly strengthened. In March, a hub was opened (a central office with a warehouse of 1,300 sq. m in Almaty). In addition, a branch was opened in Shymkent (about 500 sq. m.) and preparations are underway to open in Nur-Sultan (1000 sq. m.). The range of services, of course, formed according to the needs of the client: we do the first mile for him, warehouse logistics, including cargo consolidation, short storage, necessary handling and cross-docking.
“Each new project brings new opportunities and perspectives. Moreover, the project is as large-scale as entering the market of Kazakhstan. Now we will see what is happening there, we will understand what to expect, how to grow and develop there further. “- said Viktor Shevchenko, CEO of ZAMMLER GROUP.
